Inaugural review of QA in education and training boards concludes

23–06–2022

The inaugural review of QA in Education and Training Boards (ETBs) concluded on Friday 27 May, with the final visit of an expert review team to City of Dublin ETB (CDETB). The first visit was in March 2021

QQI appreciates having had the opportunity to work with such a variety of review teams, which included national and international representatives, learners from across FET, and industry. Each have brought their own perspective to the process.

Countries represented include:

  • The Netherlands
  • Croatia
  • Malta
  • Portugal
  • Sweden
  • Austria
  • Denmark
  • UK
  • Italy
  • Slovenia
  • Estonia

For many, the review was their first experience of ETBs and the Irish FET system. Good practice regarding adult education and lifelong learning, the ETBs’ learner-centred approach, accessibility and service to their communities were all noted as areas from which European FE could learn.

Reports from Phase 2 of the inaugural review - those for Waterford and Wexford ETB, Kerry ETB and Kilkenny and Carlow ETB - were recently published and can be found here. The final review reports from the inaugural review process are expected to be published in Autumn 2022.
