Important notice regarding MFA changes being introduced by Microsoft
Voice calls and SMS are among the least secure of the phone authentication methods. As a result, Microsoft will retire them on 1 February 2027. From that date, they can no longer be used to sign in to QQI services such as QBS or QHub. From 1 September 2026, users who currently use SMS or voice authentication will also be enabled for passkeys.
We recommend registering a passkey, or using the Microsoft Authenticator app, and then removing SMS and/or voice authentication from your account. For guidance, refer to the Sign-in and MFA authentication document in the Resources section below.
If you experience any difficulties, please contact your IT department.
The QQI Business System (QBS) certification platform allows education and training providers submit certification data to QQI.
QBS has a number of helpful features:
- An ‘easy find’ facility for class groups.
- A direct link to the programmes you have validated by QQI and what you are certifying Is available for centres that manually inputs data to QBS. This does not yet apply to file uploads.
- A facility to copy in your learner details from an Excel spread sheet to QBS that will avoid direct data entry - 20 at a time. This will increase in the coming months.
- A Learner Details tab showing all the components completed within your centre - history of learner further education components.

The QHub platform allows education and training providers to engage more easily with QQI. QHub currently supports business processes such as TrustEd (IEM), re-engagement, annual quality reporting, programme validation / revalidation and programme extension.
Within your QHub account there is a mailbox where you will receive messages from QQI. These messages will be related to the specific QQI process you are participating in, for example: programme validation, due diligence evaluation, TrustEd Ireland application, IAV, and other processes. Please ensure that you check this mailbox regularly.
