QQI is pleased to mark the completion of the first phase of QDMs with the Education and Training Boards (ETBs). Over the course of June and July, 10 QDMs were convened, providing a vital forum for candid discussion, reflection and strategic planning. Meetings were held on-site in the following:

Galway and Roscommon ETB Limerick and Clare ETB Cavan and Monaghan ETB
City of Dublin Donegal ETB Mayo, Sligo and Leitrim ETB
Tipperary ETB Kilkenny and Carlow ETB Kildare and Wicklow ETB

The QDMs are central to fostering a shared understanding of current challenges and opportunities within further education and training (FET). Each meeting brought together senior staff from the ETBs and QQI to engage in purposeful conversation, exchanging insights and perspectives to inform continuous improvement initiatives.

Conversation topics included:

  • Devolved Responsibility and QQI’s upcoming pilot project
  • data-driven decision-making
  • compliance and standards
  • innovation and best practices
  • progress on quality assurance enhancement and continuous improvement
  • learner voice and experience
  • staff professional development
  • collaborative practice
  • Generative AI
  • academic integrity

This first phase of QDMs has laid the groundwork for ongoing collaboration and shared learning. The feedback and themes gathered will inform both QQI’s sectoral guidance and the ETBs’ individual quality enhancement priorities. The next phase of QDMs is planned for later in the year, where progress and emerging challenges will continue to be addressed.
