QQI and HEA strengthen collaboration through new statutory MoU
QQI has published its fourth Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Higher Education Authority (HEA) for 2025-2027. This is the first MoU to have a statutory basis under the Education Authority Act 2022.
The MoU highlights shared priorities for cooperation which recognise the distinct yet complementary roles of the HEA and QQI in Ireland’s higher education system. These shared priorities include cooperation on:
- quality assured micro-credentials;
- data;
- apprenticeship and national tertiary degrees;
- academic integrity;
- TrustEd Ireland (the international education mark) and continuing to build Ireland’s international reputation for high quality higher education provision;
- student engagement;
- the implementation of the National Framework for Doctoral Education; and
- access, transfer and progression.
The MoU also outlines a list of associated actions under the two agencies’ commitments in three areas:
- coherence of approach;
- co-operation on activities; and
- partnerships for enhancement.
QQI looks forward to implementing the MoU with the HEA and continuing to work together to support the further enhancement of higher education in Ireland.
