Launch of the new Integrated Broad Award Standards for Community Development at NFQ Levels 5-6

Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI) and the All Ireland Endorsement Body for Community Work Education and Training (AIEB) are thrilled to announce the launch of new Integrated Broad Award Standards for Community Development/Community Work at NFQ Levels 5 and 6.

Community workers, paid or voluntary, drive transformative social change by promoting rights, challenging discrimination, influencing policy, and empowering communities through values like equality, justice, and collective action.

Purpose:

The primary goal of these new standards is to enhance community practice and ensure a consistently high-quality approach to fostering social inclusion, justice, and equality.

Scope:

The new integrated broad award standards cover the NFQ levels (5-6) in the field of community development and community work.

Development:

Developed in partnership with key stakeholders, these comprehensive awards standards serve as a valuable guide for educators and practitioners.

Public consultations were conducted to ensure their relevance and practical application.

Impact:

It is endeavoured that these new broad awards standards will support providers in designing fit for purpose programmes ultimately driving meaningful change within communities across our country.
