Just published: Quality Assurance in Higher Education 2025
QQI has published separate 2025 synthesis reports for public and independent/private higher education institutions (HEIs) offering a comprehensive review of annual quality reports submitted by HEIs and covering the 2023/24 academic period.
The reports include a system-level analysis, which identifies shared strategic priorities, recurring challenges, and examples of effective practice across the sector.
Key highlights from the reports include:
- Strong alignment of quality assurance with strategic planning, including a focus on sustainability, digital transformation and inclusion.
- Sector-wide adaptation to generative AI, with updated policies and innovative approaches to teaching, learning, and assessment.
- Enhanced student and staff supports, with an emphasis on accessibility, wellbeing, and professional development.
- Ongoing commitment to research, collaboration and international engagement.
These synthesis reports are intended to support reflection, dialogue and shared learning across the higher education sector, informing future policy and practice.
Upcoming Event
To support sector-wide engagement with these findings, QQI will host a Quality in Higher Education event on 4 December at the Royal Conference Centre, Radisson Blu Royal Hotel, Dublin (D08 VRR7).
This in-person event will provide opportunities for reflection and peer learning for higher education staff from across the public and private/independent sectors on a diverse range of quality enhancement initiatives. Further details to follow.
