We are pleased to share details of an upcoming National Academic Integrity Network (NAIN) / Rethinking Assessment webinar: Ensuring valid, reliable and inclusive assessment in the GenAI era, which will take place on Friday 16 January from 11:00 am - 12:30 pm.

Overview

The credibility of qualifications is underpinned by assessments that provide valid and reliable evidence of a learner’s knowledge, skills and competence. This requires that all stakeholders have confidence that the assessment process accurately represents the learning achieved. New AI tools like ChatGPT potentially undermine many existing assessment methods, particularly online exams and written coursework.

Join us to hear Professor Michael Draper, Legal Education in the School of Law, Institutional lead for Academic Integrity, Swansea University and co-Chair of the Welsh Integrity and Assessment Network and Professor Phil Newton, Medical Science Education, Swansea University Medical School discuss their recent research on ''widespread use of summative online unsupervised remote (SOUR) examinations in UK higher education: ethical and quality assurance implications". During this webinar, they will also consider the evidence around continued use (or not) of online exams and written coursework, and some alternatives.

There are no easy answers to these challenges and so delegates are invited to bring ideas for how higher education can continue to offer assessments and associated awards and credentials that remain valid, reliable and inclusive.

This webinar will be chaired by Dr Mary-Claire Kennedy, Chair of the National Academic Integrity Network (NAIN) and Academic Integrity Lead at the University of Limerick.
