Breda Cahill, Integration Directorate

My name is Breda Cahill and I’m on the Qualifax team under the Integration Directorate of QQI.

Qualifax is Ireland’s National Learners’ Database and is the "one stop shop" for learners and the public.   Comprehensive, annually updated information is provided about further and higher education and training options in Ireland and further afield. Articles and links are also provided to assist students, jobseekers, parents, guidance professionals and graduates to make informed choices for education, training and career pathways.

I work with a great team in Qualifax and in QQI.  We all help each other along the way and if I can’t answer someone’s query, there is always someone else to willingly come to my assistance.

During these times of COVID restrictions and changes to our lives, I have found great support in many ways from our QQI family, keeping us engaged and helping in a positive way.  

I learn something new every day in QQI which keeps the job interesting.  I am also given the chance to take extra training to improve my skills.  This in turn improves our service and I can share these skills with other colleagues. 

I find my position in QQI very rewarding.  I like that I can help learners find programmes that they require or answer queries about awards and courses on their career journey.  It’s great to get positive emails or calls from learners or guidance counsellors thanking me for a great service.   

No doubt I will continue to learn and meet new people in my daily tasks on the Qualifax Team.

Once I am a positive part of someone’s educational journey and have good support from QQI colleagues, I am happy.  It makes my job easy.
