Deactivation of unused and little used CAS awards 2020
QQI has now completed its second annual analysis of certification for each Common Awards System (CAS) award.
In July 2020, QQI issued notice to deactivate unused and little used CAS awards. Following a two month period of consultation, during which providers and other stakeholders were given the opportunity to request awards not to be withdrawn, QQI has identified a final list of CAS awards that will be deactivated. This is required to ensure the integrity of the CAS and the National Framework of Qualifications. The list of awards being deactivated may be found here.
After an award is deactivated a provider who is interested in designing a programme to cover such a subject can apply for validation of a programme leading to a new QQI award. This option is new in FET.
