Towards Mutual Recognition of Qualifications between Ireland and Hong Kong
In September 2016, QQI and the Education Bureau (EDB) of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the purpose of strengthening collaboration in the development of their qualifications frameworks, promoting mutual recognition of qualifications and facilitating the mobility of learners and employees between Ireland and Hong Kong.
This international collaboration has resulted in the publication today of a practical user guide that will help students, employers and others to compare the main school, vocational and high education qualifications achieved in Hong Kong and Ireland.
Welcoming the publication of the guide, Dr. Padraig Walsh, Chief Executive of QQI, said; “Enhancing and promoting the quality and international recognition of our qualifications system, is important for both Ireland and Hong Kong. This user guide, comparing qualifications achieved in both countries, builds on the growing understanding of our respective education and training systems and qualifications frameworks. This guide is intended to bring practical benefits to holders of qualifications seeking further study or work opportunities in Ireland and Hong Kong”
