QQI research paper on further education and training qualifications developments in 5 Countries

QQI commissioned research, titled Trends and Developments in Further Education and Qualifications, into further education and training in 5 countries - Estonia, Germany, Quebec – Canada, New Zealand, Scotland. Taking a case study approach, we looked at how further/vocational education and training operates in these jurisdictions. These particular countries were selected as the Irish NFQ has established relationships with their national frameworks. This research provides background and context to support the development of a Green Paper on the future of qualifications. It also aligns with QQI’s new Statement of Strategy 2019-2021 to add value to qualifications.  

 

This  research paper is the second in a series of Qualification Policy Insights published by QQI. The first, entitled National Qualifications Frameworks: Reflections and Trajectories was published in 2017. It was commissioned by QQI prior to the commencement of the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) Policy Impact Assessment Study. The output of that study, titled Policy Impact Assessment of the Irish National Framework of Qualifications was published in December 2017.
