QQI and QAA sign Memorandum of Understanding

​QQI and QAA, the independent body entrusted with monitoring and advising on standards and quality in UK higher education, have committed to collaborate in the establishment of a strategic alliance to enhance external quality assurance and promote the quality of higher education in Ireland and the United Kingdom.

The Memorandum of Understanding, which will be of 3 years' duration, will aim to have achieved concrete collaboration in the following areas:
• Sharing information and quality assurance outcomes, including recommendations, about UK higher education providers operating in Ireland and eventual Irish higher                education providers operating in the UK.
• The identification of and approaches to dealing with academic fraud and contract cheating in both jurisdictions.
• Updating and communicating changes to the regulatory framework and context in both jurisdictions to the respective higher education sectors, such as through webinars or      seminars.
• Identifying opportunities for engagements with professional regulatory bodies.
